2023.03.18 Remembering Charley Pride

03.18.2023 Today  I'm remembering one of the greats from my childhood: the one and only Mr. Charley Pride on what would be his 89th birthday. It brings to mind a special night several years back when I was lucky enough to get to jump up with two of my talented kind friends, Don MacAngus on rhythm guitar and Scott Hyatt on lead guitar at The Ugly Mug coffeehouse, and we put our spin on one of my favorite Charley Pride hits, “Mountain Of Love" {written by Harold Dorman}. A lot of folks don't know this, but I wrote what would become my debut single — "She Said She's Leaving"— inspired by a favorite Charley Pride song one morning. As the final musical notes of "Is Anybody Going To San Antone" were fading into the next track, I thought to myself...nobody seems to write or sing that term of endearment "San Antone" anymore...so I sat down with pencil and paper in hand, and that thought in mind, and I did just that: She said she's leavin' / For San Antonio / She said she's movin' / to San Antone. Do you have a favorite Charley Pride or San Antone song? I hope you'll share it with me in the comments, or drop me a line on my website or socials, so we can keep in touch and I can say hello back. In the meantime, thanks so much for listening and for sharing this special occasion with me...I'm so glad you're here to help me sing, with so much love...thank you for all the music & Happy Birthday to you Mr. Pride!
